Shymkent Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Corruption Case: Verdict Handed Down

The Shymkent Interdistrict Criminal Court has completed hearing a case of bribery and abuse of authority, Orda.kz reports.
The defendants, including the department heads and employees, were accused of bribery, mediation, and abuse of authority.
By prior agreement, the head of the Shymkent Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control and the head of the HR department received a bribe of 600,000 tenge for the employment of the daughter of citizen A.
The money was transferred through an intermediary — the head of the Shymkent Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control in Transport M.
The defendants pleaded guilty. The court sentenced the department head to six years, the head of the HR department to a 21 million tenge fine, the intermediary to nine million tenge, and the bribe-giver to 12 million tenge.
The court's verdict has not entered into legal force.
