Rumors appeared online that Shymkent Deputy Akim Ruslan Berdenov had been dismissed. The Akimat’s press service denied this, noting that Berdenov officially remains in his post and is currently on sick leave for treatment, Orda.kz reports.
Sources indicate, however, that he may step down in the near future.
At the same time, personnel reshuffles are taking place in the city administration. Aidyn Karimov has been appointed first deputy akim through promotion. Another deputy akim is Arman Sabitov, formerly akim of the Sairam district in the Turkistan region.
The former first deputy akim of Shymkent, Kuanysh Asylov, has been released from his post due to a transfer to another job.
Not only appointments but also arrests are occurring in the Akimat. Recently, the head of the architecture department, Arman Abdeshev, came under Anticor investigation. It was also reported that the head of the Shymkent land relations department, Nurbol Zhunisbekov, was arrested.
Ruslan Berdenov has served as deputy akim since February 2025. In the spring, an attempt was made on his life. On August 20, the court found Yernar Zhiembay guilty and sentenced him to nine years in prison.
