Sherzat Polat: What Was Discussed in Instagram Stream
Lawyers for the family of Sherzat Polat, killed in Talgar, shared information about the investigation on an Instagram live stream, Orda.kz reports.
Sultanat Nukenova's brother, Aitbek Amangeldy, who helps the family, held it.
He said that the Karzhaubaev family is currently working with a psychologist. Sherzat's relatives said that they would give an interview when the time came.
Lawyers hope the trial will be held publicly.
They touched on four key questions:
The Leaked Video
Lawyer Karina Kosherbaeva reported that an investigation is underway into the leak of the CCTV footage that recorded the altercation preceding Sherzat's death.
The video was posted on the sona.kz Instagram page. Its owner is Galymurat Zhukel, the former head and adviser to the press service of the Almaty region administration and a current civil activist.
According to the lawyer, Antikor should head the investigation:
We filed a complaint with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and our statement was accepted for processing. On October 16, a case was opened under Article 423 of the Criminal Code: "Disclosure of Data from Pre-trial Proceedings or Closed Court Proceedings." The case was transferred to the security service of the Almaty Region Police Department. Also, after the owner of the sona.kz page was identified, we filed a motion to transfer the case to another investigative agency, Kosherbayeva explained.
The Two Young Women
Another lawyer for the Karzhaubayev family, Saida Tauekelova, shared new details about the two young women with witness statuses. She says they are directly implicated, and their actions should receive a criminal procedural assessment.
On October 30, we filed a complaint with the Almaty Region Prosecutor's Office with a request to conduct an investigation into the investigation. We believe that the actions of the two young women constitute a crime under Article 434, that is, failure to report a crime. This is a severe crime. We demand that their actions be reclassified and the investigation continued within the framework of this criminal case, the lawyer stated.
The Prosecutor's Office has said the investigation into the case is ongoing and that the relevant instructions have been given to the investigative bodies to make a procedural decision.
However, the lawyers said they were unsatisfied with the response.
The Uncle
According to lawyer Maral Zhailaubayeva, Nurkanat's mobile phone and wallet were stolen. He is Sherzat's uncle. A criminal case was opened under Article 188, "Theft."
Gayypbayev was stabbed three or four times in the thigh and chest. Such actions are directly aimed at homicide. Therefore, we filed a motion to initiate a case under the article "Attempted Homicide." This motion is currently being considered, and an in-person questioning took place between the victims and suspects. We are familiarizing ourselves with the results of the examinations,Zhaylaubayeva explained.
The Fire
The lawyers reported that a specialized prosecutor is investigating the family's house burning down.
1,200 residents of the villages of Azat, Ryskulov, Kainazar, and the city of Talgar have already been questioned.
Employees of nearby refueling stations have also been questioned. During the investigation, requests were sent to the aerospace agency, Yandex, 2gis, and Google Maps.
The lawyers also reported on seven charity collections, stressing that these collections have nothing to do with the family. No accounts for raising funds will be opened in the future.
