Due to the spring thaw across the country, truck traffic will be temporarily restricted, Orda.kz reports.
In spring, road surfaces become oversaturated with moisture and lose strength, so heavy vehicles can damage the asphalt. These restrictions are introduced annually to preserve roads and reduce repair costs.
The specific restrictions depend on the region. From March 23 to May 1, they will apply in the northern and eastern regions of the country. The list includes:
- Akmola Region;
- Aktobe Region;
- East Kazakhstan Region;
- West Kazakhstan Region;
- Karaganda Region;
- Kostanay Region;
- Pavlodar Region;
- North Kazakhstan Region;
- Abay Region.
The restrictions apply to trucks with a single-axle load of more than eight tons.
In the southern and western regions, the restrictions are already in force and will remain in effect until April 1. The list includes:
- Almaty Region;
- Atyrau Region;
- Zhambyl Region;
- Kyzylorda Region;
- Mangistau Region;
- Turkestan Region;
- Zhetysu Region;
- Ulytau Region.
At the same time, the ban does not apply to international freight transport, passenger transport, or the delivery of food, medicine, and cargo used in emergency response.
