SCO Summit: Toqayev Meets Xi Jinping, Highlights Record Trade Ties

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for the invitation to the SCO summit and for the warm reception, Orda.kz reports.
He noted that relations between Kazakhstan and China are at a historic high: last year, bilateral trade reached $44 billion, with positive growth continuing. Toqayev stressed that China remains Kazakhstan’s main trading partner. He also congratulated the Chinese side on the anniversary of Victory in World War II, highlighting China’s contribution.
Xi Jinping, in turn, said Beijing places great importance on cooperation with Astana.
He emphasized that China and Kazakhstan consistently adhere to the principles of friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutual benefit. According to Xi, the two countries support each other on key issues and are ready to elevate relations to a new level.
During the meeting, the heads of state signed several agreements and discussed expanding trade, investment, and cultural ties, as well as advancing major joint projects. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
