Environmental inspectors in the Atyrau region uncovered a serious violation that forced Karabatan Utility Solutions not only to pay a fine but also to urgently restore contaminated land, Orda.kz reports.
The regional Department of Ecology conducted an unscheduled inspection of Karabatan Utility Solutions, a subsidiary of Samruq-Qazyna. Inspectors discovered that the company had been discharging wastewater without the required environmental permits. Moreover, the inspection documented contamination of a land plot, which constituted an additional breach of environmental regulations.
As a result of the inspection, the Department issued an order requiring remediation measures to restore environmental components, the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control said.
The company was also held administratively liable and fined 26.5 million tenge, which it has already paid in full.
As of today, the site has been cleaned and the violations eliminated, confirmed by compliance reports.

Karabatan Utility Solutions provides key utilities to participants of the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark special economic zone (NIPT SEZ) in the Atyrau region.
The company operates a gas turbine power plant supplying electricity and high-pressure steam. In addition, KUS is responsible for water treatment and wastewater purification: it produces demineralized, desalinated, and firefighting water, and treats the wastewater of SEZ enterprises.
