Russian Police Launch Probe Into Ekaterina Bivol’s Statement

Russian law enforcement has taken an interest in Ekaterina Bivol’s recent statement, Orda.kz reports.
An inquiry has been opened into her case, and she could face criminal charges in Russia depending on the investigation’s findings.
The investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region,
Gazeta.Ru reported, citing the Russian Interior Ministry.
Ekaterina Bivol is the former wife of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol (born in Kyrgyzstan). The inquiry was triggered by a social media post in which she used insulting language toward nationalities and ethnicities, including Kazakhs and Kyrgyz.
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan reacted shortly after the video’s release: authorities in both countries opened a criminal case against her and placed her on a wanted list.
