A criminal case has been opened in Kyrgyzstan against Ekaterina Bivol, the ex-wife of world boxing champion Dmitry Bivol, on charges of inciting ethnic discord, Orda.kz reports, citing 24.kg.
According to the capital’s Main Directorate of Internal Affairs, the case was launched under Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic — “Incitement of racial, ethnic, national, or interregional hatred (discord).”
The offense carries a penalty of five to seven years in prison.
Investigators say Bivol made offensive remarks about Kyrgyz, Kazakhs, and other ethnic groups. A video containing the slurs surfaced on social media on October 21.
Charges have been brought in absentia. Bivol has been placed on the wanted list, and a pre-trial detention order has been issued.
“We are investigating all the circumstances of the incident,” the Bishkek Main Department of Internal Affairs said.
The ex-wife of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol became the center of a controversy after posting a video in which she insulted members of several nationalities, using obscene language.
Following the video’s release, the Interior Ministries of both Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan launched investigations.
