The Russian Foreign Ministry has rejected claims of unfulfilled insurance obligations after the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane, Orda.kz reports.
The ministry described reports in the media and Telegram channels as “lies and speculation on the tragedy.”
AlfaStrakhovanie Insurance Company began making payments back in February. The damage to the aircraft was fully compensated — 1.003 billion rubles. Claims for the death or injury of 46 of the 62 passengers were also settled, including all three Kyrgyz citizens and 35 of the 38 Azerbaijanis. The total amount of compensation paid has already amounted to 358.4 million rubles,
the statement said.
The crash near Aqtau was earlier reported as the sixth mass-casualty air disaster in the history of independent Kazakhstan. The plane was en route from Baku to Grozny when it went down on approach to Aqtau.
Of the 69 people on board, 29 survived.
