The Basmanny District Court in Moscow has ordered the arrest in absentia of journalist and blogger Yury Dud, citing repeated violations of Russia’s controversial foreign agent legislation, Orda.kz reports, citing the Moscow courts' press service.
The arrest order is valid for two months and will take effect if Dud is detained or extradited to Russia. Authorities have also placed him on an international wanted list.
According to TASS, Dud is accused of consistently evading the responsibilities assigned to individuals designated as foreign agents. Despite previous administrative penalties, he allegedly continued publishing content without the required labeling.
The court also claims that Dud is being investigated for “deliberately collecting information related to military and military-technical activities of the Russian Federation.” This falls under Part 3 of Article 330.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
Yury Dud rose to prominence through his YouTube channel “vDud,” which has amassed over 10 million subscribers.
He was labeled a foreign agent in 2022 and subsequently left Russia.
