Senior Russian and American diplomats will meet in Istanbul on February 27, where they will discuss the resumption of normal embassy operations, according to Foreign Minister Lavrov, Orda reports, citing Interfax.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has previously stated that Russia and the United States have agreed to restore embassy staffing levels in Moscow and Washington.
Lavrov also rejected any possibility of deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine during a press conference in Qatar.
He noted that Russia has not been approached about peacekeeping options.
However, he claimed that US President Donald Trump recently told French President Emmanuel Macron that such deployment would require consent from both conflict parties.
The Russian minister did not acknowledge Trump's confidence that Putin would agree to European peacekeepers in Ukraine. Lavrov's statements indicate Moscow continues to demand control over all Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia - Crimea and four regions where active fighting continues.
