Russia to Lift Ban on Kazakh Wheat Imports on October 20

The temporary ban introduced in the spring will expire on October 20, Orda.kz reports.
On April 22, Russia lifted a previous six-month ban on agricultural imports from Kazakhstan. However, just one day later, it reimposed restrictions, prohibiting the import of wheat, flaxseed, and sunflower seeds from Kazakhstan starting April 23.
The ban applied only to products transiting through the neighboring country.
On October 17, it was announced that at least wheat exports from Kazakhstan to Russia would once again be allowed. The decision followed a meeting between Sergei Dankvert, head of Rosselkhoznadzor, and Yermek Kenzhekhanuly, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
The restriction on importing Kazakh wheat into Russia’s main agricultural regions will officially end on October 20.
