Russian airline Aeroflot canceled nearly 50 flights due to an IT system failure later confirmed to be the result of a hacker attack, Orda.kz reports, citing RBK.
Affected routes included flights between Moscow and Astana, Minsk, Yerevan, and several Russian cities. Astana airport reported two cancellations: one incoming from Moscow and one outbound.
The airline’s website is currently down.
Aeroflot urged affected passengers to collect baggage and leave Sheremetyevo Airport. Ticket refunds or exchanges are available within 10 days, though ticket counters are temporarily offline.
Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed the cyberattack and opened a criminal case for unlawful access to computer data. Hacker group Silent Crow and Belarusian collective Cyber Partisans BY claimed responsibility, stating they had accessed Aeroflot’s internal systems for a year and downloaded its entire flight database.
