Ruslan Berdenov May Soon Be Discharged and Begin Rehabilitation

Ruslan Berdenov, the Deputy Akim of Shymkent who survived an armed attack, may soon be discharged from the hospital, according to Nurlybek Assylbekov, head of the city’s health department, Orda.kz reports.
After his release, Berdenov will undergo a course of rehabilitation, with doctors continuing to monitor his condition.
Thanks to our doctors, from deputy chief physicians to thoracic surgery specialists. Today, he is already on his feet: walking, resting, and even working at times. He will be discharged soon and begin rehabilitation. The doctors will continue to monitor him. Yes, there was organ damage, but with time, that will pass. You know, during the war, our ancestors suffered serious injuries…Assylbekov said at a media briefing in Shymkent.
Berdenov was shot on April 21 while leaving the Akimat building. He sustained three gunshot wounds and underwent surgery the same day. His lung, liver, kidney, diaphragm, and arteries were affected.
The shooter was identified as Yernar Zhiembay, a former subordinate of Berdenov. Investigators believe a personal conflict may have been the motive.
