Rosatom Ready for Large-scale Projects with Kazakh side — Putin
Kazakhstanskaya Pravda published an article by Vladimir Putin that coincides with his upcoming visit to Kazakhstan. In it, the Russian President highlighted the current state of bilateral relations and outlined key areas for further development, Orda.kz reports.
According to Putin, cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is indeed allied in nature and continues to develop actively in all areas.
The high level of interstate relations is evidenced by the close and good personal relations that we have developed with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Kemelevich Toqayev over the years of working together. We regularly call each other and meet in various formats. We constantly 'synchronize watches' on both current bilateral topics and on issues of the regional and global agenda, and outline new plans for the future, writes Putin.
Trade turnover between the countries continues to grow, reaching 28 billion dollars in 2023 and exceeding 20 billion in the first nine months of 2024. Moreover, the emphasis is on non-resource products and increased settlements in national currencies, reducing external factors.
Russian companies are actively investing in Kazakhstan, having invested 13 billion dollars. More than 23,000 enterprises with Russian participation operate in Kazakhstan, including significant energy and high technology projects.
At the same time, up to 80% of Kazakhstan’s oil passes through Russia, and joint nuclear energy projects are implemented with Rosatom's participation.
Rosatom provides practical assistance in implementing nuclear fuel cycle projects and developing the uranium industry in Kazakhstan. The Russian state corporation, which has unique competencies and technical solutions that often have no analogues in the world, is ready for new large-scale projects with the Kazakh side,
noted Vladimir Putin.
In the transport sector, the expansion of the eastern route of the North-South corridor continues, opening up new opportunities for logistics.
Creating the Baiterek space complex using the Russian Soyuz-5 launch vehicle will be an essential stage in space exploration. As a symbol of historical cooperation, Baikonur remains a key object of bilateral efforts.
There are 60,000 students from Kazakhstan studying at Russian universities.
In turn, Kazakhstan plans to open a branch of the Kazakh National University in Omsk. New schools with Russian as the language of instruction appear in the country's southern regions.
Cultural exchanges are also on the rise: festivals, exhibitions, and joint theatre productions are becoming bridges of mutual understanding and friendship.
The Russian President noted that Kazakhstan has become a critical partner in forming a more just and multipolar world. The countries' common positions are reflected in the work of international organizations, such as the CIS, CSTO, SCO, and others.
I would like to especially note that next year the peoples of our countries will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We are expecting President Toqayev and other Kazakh friends to attend the anniversary celebrations in Moscow on May 9, Vladimir Putin wrote.
