Renowned Poet and Playwright Israil Saparbay Passes Away at 84

Noted Kazakh poet, playwright, and composer Israil Saparbay has died following a prolonged illness, Orda.kz reports.
He passed away early in the morning of July 18 at his home in Kaskelen, just months before his 85th birthday.
The news was shared by Kasymkhan Begmanov, Deputy Chair of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, on Facebook.
This morning I received sad news. Around four in the morning, at the age of 85, the People's Writer of Kazakhstan, laureate of the independent Platinum Tarlan award, outstanding national poet, famous playwright and talented composer Israil Saparbay passed away. His son Nurlan Israiluly informed me that the great poet died of a serious illness in his family home in Kaskelen,
wrote Begmanov.
President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev extended his condolences, noting that Saparbay’s contributions to Kazakh poetry and drama will remain significant.
In 2023, on Republic Day, the writer was honored with the title “Kazakhstannyn Yenbek Sinirgen Qairatkeri” for his role in advancing national culture and literature.
