Kazakhstan’s Agency for Protection and Development of Competition has shared the results of a pricing audit of Yandex Go (Yandex Taxi), reports Orda.kz.
The review was conducted jointly with the Ministry of Digital Development and industry specialists.
The initial audit revealed several problematic elements in the platform’s operations that may have contributed to inflated prices and reduced driver earnings.
Key issues included:
- A mismatch between the city boundaries in the system and actual administrative borders
- Price increases driven by non-price-related factors
- Incomplete fare calculation details shown in the app
- Discriminatory pricing for airport pickups based on user location
- Other inconsistencies affecting passengers and drivers
As a result of the audit, Yandex has already made some corrections and committed to resolving the remaining issues.
The company was required to revise its Yandex+ loyalty program — now, Yandex itself must cover the cost of all client discounts. Additionally, the service must avoid unjustified price hikes during peak hours and may not reduce drivers’ earnings through platform mechanisms.
The meeting also included a discussion of driver complaints submitted to the agency and a review of Yandex's Q1 2025 performance report.
Yandex Go is currently under ongoing oversight by a monitoring group within the Competition Agency.
