Record Numbers: People from Mongolia and China Move to Kazakhstan

In the first three quarters of this year, 1,451 people moved from China to our country for permanent residence, and 1,088 people moved from Mongolia, Orda.kz reports, citing First Credit Bureau.
The growth compared to last year's months was almost threefold - 177% and 172%, respectively.
The number of immigrants from China has become the highest since 2017, although there were only nine people in 2020.
Almost all of those who moved are Kazakhs.
Half of the immigrants from China settled in the capital or Almaty; almost every fifth settled in the Almaty region.
Regarding Mongolia, the most popular region is the Aqmola Oblast (33%), with Astana and Almaty accounting for slightly more than a third (23% and 13%).
In total, 20.4 thousand immigrants arrived from other countries in three quarters of 2024 - 6.5% more than in September last year. About 10.2 thousand people left, 20% less than a year earlier.
The migration balance, i.e., arrivals vs departures, increased by 59% at once and amounted to approximately 10.2 thousand people.
