Record Oil Shipments: Kazakhstan's Maritime Transit Hits 13.2M Tons in 2024
According to 2024 results, KMG's subsidiary company Kazmortransflot, which transports Kazakhstani oil by sea using tankers, set a record in export transportation, reports Orda.kz.
KazMunayGaz reports that the volume of oil transported by sea last year amounted to 13.2 million tons.
This is the highest figure in the entire history of Kazmortransflot's existence. A year earlier, the volume of sea transportation was 10.8 million tons.
The growth was driven by increased oil supplies from the Tengiz and Karazhanbas fields across the Caspian Sea, as well as hydrocarbon transportation across the Black Sea. In total, since the start of their operation, KMTF tankers have transported over 170 million tons of oil, the national company reported.
Container transportation of Kazakhstani oil by sea also increased: 51.4 thousand tons of oil were transported between Aqtau and Azerbaijan's Baku in 2024.
This week, KazMunayGaz reported that the first batch of oil from the Kashagan field was sent to Azerbaijan.
The development of maritime transportation is part of the work on diversifying export routes and is part of President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev's instructions.
At the end of last year, the Ministry of Energy stated that it plans to increase oil supplies through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline by 13 times.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani side warned that it is not ready to accept such a volume.
