Rahmon Meets Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker to Discuss Bilateral Ties

On September 16, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon met with Nurlanbek Turğunbek uulu (Shakiyev), the speaker of Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh, Orda.kz reports, citing the Tajik presidential press service.
Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan “attaches special importance to the development of multifaceted cooperation with its close neighbor — Kyrgyzstan.”
The sides discussed inter-parliamentary ties, mutual support in international organizations, and cooperation in trade, transport, agriculture, and energy. They also focused on cultural and humanitarian exchanges, as well as strengthening their positions within the UN, CIS, SCO, and CSTO.
Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan signed a treaty on March 13, 2025, to fully demarcate their shared border, ending a longstanding territorial dispute. Since then, political engagement between the two nations has visibly increased.
