Qyzylqairat: Man Killed Defending Family Members, Child Rescued from Abduction

In the village of Qyzylqairat, Talgar District, a man was killed while defending his sister and two-year-old niece, Orda.kz reports.
The attack occurred on September 6. A local car service employee killed the brother of lawyer Gaukhar Sariyeva and abducted her sister’s two-year-old daughter. Orda.kz correspondents were on the scene gathering details from residents.
The victim, Yernar, was laid to rest by his family — brother, son, father, and uncle. He leaves behind a pregnant wife and three children.
The abducted child was rescued. On Instagram, lawyer Gaukhar Sariyeva wrote that her niece survived after the suspect, attempting to flee, drove into a river with the girl in the car.
"Our girl is a hero, glory to God, she survived. She had a tongue injury from the fall, underwent a small operation, and is now in the hospital," Sariyeva wrote.
She also described the background to the crime. More than a month earlier, her sister Aruzhan had been sexually assaulted by the same service station employee. According to Sariyeva, the man was already under investigation for car fraud and had come to police attention.
For a month, he stalked Aruzhan, forced contact, and threatened her. Unable to bear the pressure, she attempted suicide, but doctors managed to save her.
Relatives later detained the suspect themselves and took him to the police, where Aruzhan filed a complaint.
However, the man was released and his phone returned.
Soon after, he obtained a sawed-off shotgun and sought revenge. Witnesses say he shot Yernar in the street, then entered the house, threatening the pregnant widow, Balziya Abilayeva, and terrifying the children with a gun and knife.
We were alone at home, me and the children, and no one helped us. Today, this happened to us, tomorrow it can happen to anyone. He killed him (Yernar) as if it made no difference whether it was a person or an animal, Abilayeva said.
Failing to find Aruzhan, who was away on a nursing call, the suspect abducted her two-year-old daughter. He was later detained by special forces after the car he was fleeing in plunged off a cliff.
He suffered only minor injuries and is now held in pretrial detention.
