In the village of Tasboget, located in Kazakhstan’s Qyzylorda region, a woman has turned to law enforcement after being assaulted by her husband at her workplace, resulting in broken ribs, Orda.kz reports.
The victim, Saule Akimova, arrived at the local police department to file an official complaint. She stated that the abuse had become unbearable after years of physical violence and verbal humiliation.
He beats me both when he's drunk and when he's sober. He swears at me in front of the children and insults me. I work as a nurse in a hospital, and he's jealous of all the men who work here,
the woman said tearfully.
Saule has two children and said she stayed in the marriage for their sake. According to her, her husband’s violent behavior had been consistent throughout their relationship. The latest incident occurred after he became jealous over a conversation she had with a doctor. In a fit of rage, he attacked her in front of hospital staff and patients.
When asked by others why he assaulted his wife, the man reportedly shouted:
This is my wife, I can do whatever I want.
Following her police report, Saule and her children were taken to a crisis center for safety.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the “intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm.”
To protect the family, a protective order was issued against the suspect (with a group III disability). Employees of the Department for Combating Domestic Violence of the Qyzylorda City Police Department are conducting preventive work,
the Qyzylorda Region Police Department told Orda.kz.
Police said the case is under the direct supervision of the regional police chief.
