The cassation court did not reduce the sentences of nine people convicted in a sexual exploitation case involving a schoolgirl, Orda.kz reports.
Orda.kz reported in detail the story of a 16-year-old schoolgirl from Qyzylorda who was sexually exploited by a group, which included her classmates.
The defendants were sentenced in the spring. All nine received varying prison terms. Having lost their appeal, they appealed to the cassation court.
The defendants' lawyers and relatives attempted to appeal the decision, seeking a mitigation of their sentences — replacing their prison terms with restricted freedom. But their appeals were rejected,
The press service of the Court of Cassation reported.
The verdict of the first instance court and the decision of the appellate board of the Qyzylorda Regional Court remain in force.
