Qostanay Student to Represent Kazakhstan in Arctic Expedition
This summer, Lidiya Osennikova, a schoolgirl from Qostanay, will join an international expedition to the Arctic, Orda.kz reports.
She is one of the winners of a global competition that drew nearly 4,000 participants from 20 countries. The final group of 65 teenagers, aged 14 to 16, will travel aboard a nuclear icebreaker along the Northern Sea Route, reaching the North Pole in August 2025.
Participants had to pass a science quiz, watch a series of webinars, and submit a video presentation to qualify. In her project, Lidiya focused on topics relevant to Kazakhstan, including ecological and agricultural issues. An international panel of experts from scientific and industrial institutions evaluated the entries.
The expedition is supported by the Russian state corporation Rosatom. The list of winners is available on the project’s official platforms.
