The regional head, Kumar Aksakalov, said that he considers the time change in Kazakhstan the right decision, Orda reports.
According to him, the initiative came from the Qostanay region. Reportedly, residents and businesses have not responded negatively.
I also feel that we live in a more appropriate time (zone - Ed.): we go to bed earlier, we get up earlier. We do not see any disruptions in the economy. But it takes time to draw final conclusions, Aksakalov noted.
He added that most residents of the region responded positively to the change.
At least most say they're okay with it,the regional head summed up.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov previously acknowledged that the transition to a single time zone had caused some inconveniences.
However, he stressed that the decision was based on scientific research and aimed at improving citizens' health and well-being. Bektenov cited the work of 2017 Nobel laureates who studied circadian rhythms and the 2022 Barcelona Declaration, which experts from more than 80 countries supported.
