Qostanay Horses Lead Allur Team to Victory in Uly Dala Jorygy Marathon
The Allur team, riding exclusively Qostanay horses, won the second International Marathon-Baiga "Uly Dala Jorygy," finishing the 500-kilometer course in 31 hours and 19 minutes, Orda.kz reports. Out of 19 teams from countries including Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Iran, Russia, and South Africa, only five completed the race.
Kyrgyzstan placed second, and the Ulytau region took third.
The Qostanay breed, known for its endurance and adaptability, was central to the team’s success. Allur, a Kazakh auto company, invests in preserving the breed through breeding projects in cooperation with local institutes and the Qostanay Akimat.

Experts warn that the Qostanay horse remains vulnerable due to declining population and interest. The team’s win highlights how businesses can play a key role in safeguarding Kazakhstan’s cultural and biological heritage.
