QazaqGaz Chairperson of the Board Sanzhar Zharkeshov has shared details of the deal with Qatari investors to construct gas processing plants in Kashagan, Orda.kz reports.
Qatar's UCC Holding is pursuing two projects at Kazakhstan's oil and gas field. The first involves building a billion-dollar plant.
And $2.5 billion will be spent on the second gas processing plant. Investments depend on metal prices, logistics, etc. The global trend is changing. These are approximately the figures,
Sanzhar Zharkeshov shared.
The first plant is expected to begin operations in 2026, while the second is planned to be commissioned by 2028-2029.
In terms of additional production, for every billion cubic meters of raw gas processed at the gas processing plant, an additional 25,000 barrels of oil per day are produced at Kashagan, added Zharkeshov.
The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan notes that the result would impact gas production, processing, and oil export volumes.
As the volume of gas increases, the production of liquid fraction increases. These processes are directly related to the specifics of oil and gas field development. And I think the result will be apparent,
said Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev.
Kazakhstan has enough raw gas to supply the domestic market fully and export the product abroad. However, the country has few facilities where raw materials can be processed. There is high hope for gas from the "diamond in the crown of Kazakhstan" - Kashagan.
