Qarmet has signed cooperation agreements with four major Chinese engineering firms during the Kazakhstan-China Business Council meeting in Beijing, Orda.kz reports.
The partnerships will form part of a large-scale modernization of Kazakhstan’s metallurgical industry.

The company described the agreements as a decisive step toward a technological breakthrough.
Each of the Chinese corporations brings global expertise in metallurgical engineering:
- Sinosteel has carried out numerous metallurgical complex projects worldwide
- WISDRI, active since the mid-20th century, is known for its advanced R&D centers and energy-efficient solutions
- CISDI operates in more than 30 countries, delivering complex technological projects
- CERI pioneered hydrogen metallurgy, introducing a process that reduces CO₂ emissions by hundreds of thousands of tons annually
Cooperation with global engineering leaders opens new horizons for the company. This is not just modernization — it is a large-scale transformation that will make Kazakhstan one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly metallurgy hubs in the region, Qarmet stated.
Together with its partners, Qarmet plans to launch projects such as building a casting and rolling complex, a new section mill, innovative pig iron casting machines, and a line for galvanizing and polymer coating to produce premium products.
The company also intends to introduce deep coal processing technologies, biochemical purification systems to minimize environmental impact, and chemical regeneration units for more efficient resource use.
According to experts, these projects mark one of the most significant modernization phases in Kazakhstan’s metallurgical sector.
