The Financial Monitoring Agency has stopped a major drug smuggling channel in the Qaraganda region, Orda.kz reports.
The channel’s organizer ordered a parcel from Thailand containing 1.3 kilograms of WAX cannabis and involved an underage acquaintance in the scheme, arranging delivery in his name through JSC Kazpost, FMA reported.
As the investigation found out, the drugs were intended for sale in Qaraganda through caches, the coordinates of which were transmitted via Telegram. The suspect was detained, and the court arrested him for two months.
Earlier in Astana, a court sentenced a college student to eight years in prison for receiving a similar package from Thailand. According to investigators, the teenager agreed to store drugs for extra income and was detained immediately after receiving the shipment.
