The local Akimat did not approve the event, Orda.kz reports.
The case involved a Qaraganda resident who used WhatsApp to call on others to join a march scheduled for May 30. The event was intended to commemorate victims of political repression.
However, according to the court, the individual failed to follow legal procedures for organizing public gatherings. The campaign was conducted without observing the required timelines and without notifying the Akimat, as mandated by law.
The court took into account mitigating circumstances, but since the man had previously been held liable under a similar article, he was sentenced to administrative arrest for 15 days,
reported the press service of the specialized inter-district court for administrative offenses of the Qaraganda region.
The court emphasized that public events in Kazakhstan must be carried out only with prior notification to the authorities and in accordance with established procedures.
Violations may result in administrative or criminal liability.
Previously, in Oral, an activist successfully challenged an Akimat's refusal to allow a peaceful rally. The court ruled that the authorities had infringed upon his constitutional rights.
