In the Aqtobe region, a court found Kazbek Akkaiyr, the akim of Qandyagash, guilty of assaulting a woman and fined him 314,560 tenge, Orda.kz reports.
During the investigation, the married akim admitted to having an affair but denied assaulting his mistress, claiming he was already facing “consequences” within his family.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve in the Akimat. Following an argument, Akkaiyr grabbed the woman by the neck and struck her several times.
In court, the official expressed regret over the relationship and attempted to justify his behavior by quoting President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev:
The president said there are women who shout, swear, and disturb public order. We have such women here in Qandyagash, too,
Akkaiyr said.
The court found him guilty of assault and ordered him to pay his former lover 100,000 tenge in moral damages and an additional 100,000 tenge in legal fees.
