Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow and Astana are in talks over joint participation in gas exports to third countries, as well as the development of new routes for transporting Kazakh oil, Orda.kz reports.
He made the comments during a meeting with international news agencies in St. Petersburg.
According to Putin, Kazakhstan primarily exports oil through Russian territory, including via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and other routes.
However, he noted that Astana is interested in diversifying its logistics options, and Russia is prepared to assist.
We continue to work in space. This applies not only to the use of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, but also to satellite development and joint space research,
the Russian president said.
He stressed the close nature of relations between the two countries.
We have special relations with Kazakhstan. Allied in the truest sense of the word. Kazakhstan is certainly one of the closest states to us — our ally. I don’t see any obstacles to the continued development of our relations,
Putin added.
He also noted that consultations between the two governments, including foreign ministries, are ongoing “non-stop.”
