A women’s forum in Kazakhstan has sparked public backlash after a Russian motivational coach praised Vladimir Putin during his speech, Orda.kz reports.
The event — the BeWoman forum — was organized by Zhanna Kan, wife of billionaire Sergey Kan, co-owner of TSATEK and CAEPCO.
Public figure Arman Shurayev called on his “Ukrainian friends” to add both Kan and the event’s speaker, Alexey Sitnikov, to Ukraine’s Peacemaker database, accusing them of supporting Putin and justifying the war.
“I hope this ‘Soviet lioness’ will only admire the Schengen zone on TV,” Shurayev wrote on Facebook.
During his appearance, Sitnikov publicly praised the Russian president:
Look how Putin takes a beating. Fifty-five countries are at war with him, and he’s winning. Look how Trump greeted Putin at the plane’s steps — he doesn’t greet anyone like that…
Sitnikov said from the stage.
Sitnikov, who promotes himself as an expert on leadership, negotiation, and motivation, previously worked in political consulting in Russia and abroad. Despite skepticism about his credentials, he has nearly 900,000 Instagram followers.
Zhanna Kan has faced public criticism before. Commenting on proposed tax reforms, she recently said Kazakhstanis should “work more and pay taxes to avoid another Qantar (January Events - Ed.).”
Kan’s husband’s company, CAEPCO, partly owns JSC Pavlodarenergo, where a 33-year-old welder died last month at Thermal Power Plant No. 2 in Pavlodar. CAEPCO’s largest shareholders are Alexander Klebanov and Sergey Kan.
