On August 22, during a meeting with employees of the nuclear industry in Sarov, Vladimir Putin made a series of statements about relations with the United States, the recent meeting in Alaska, and Russia’s nuclear projects abroad, Orda.kz reports.
- Russia has no “unfriendly countries,” only unfriendly elites in some states
- Relations with the U.S. are at their lowest point since World War II. However, with Donald Trump’s return to the White House, “a light at the end of the tunnel” has appeared
- Moscow hopes that the first steps already taken will mark the beginning of a full restoration of ties
- The Alaska meeting was “very good, substantive, and frank”
- Contacts are ongoing at the level of ministries, agencies, and companies
- Russia is discussing with the U.S. potential cooperation in mineral resource extraction in Alaska
- Moscow does not “hook” other countries by building nuclear power plants abroad to keep them dependent on its market, but instead helps create entire industries, trains personnel, and develops domestic equipment production
