Prosecutor Seeks Conviction and Fine for Qandyagash Akim Accused of Assault

The trial of Qandyagash mayor Kazbek Akkayir continues in the Mugalzhar District Court, where prosecutors are asking that he be found guilty of assaulting a woman and fined, Orda.kz reports.
The case was initiated based on a complaint from the woman, who testified that the mayor assaulted her in his office — choking and punching her. She sought medical attention immediately afterward.
In court, she requested 500,000 tenge in damages and 300,000 tenge for legal costs. The court accepted the claim.
Akkayir denies the accusations.
I regret having a relationship with this woman. I'm already bearing the consequences for my family. I ask for vindication,the official said during the debate.
The prosecutor is seeking a conviction under Article 109-1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code.
The requested fine is 80 MCI — 314,560,000 tenge.
