The trial of Khasan Kasymbayev in Talgar is nearing its conclusion. During closing arguments, the prosecutor requested a 15-year prison sentence, Orda.kz reports.
According to the investigation, in 2021, Kasymbayev kidnapped and seriously injured mixed martial arts coach Arman Alimov. He is also accused of a separate incident — an attack on Ayupzhan Tazhiyev in 2016.
Kasymbayev is being tried alongside five other defendants, all of whom told the court that the charges are fabricated.
Kasymbayev’s name became widely known a year ago. He has been linked to the “Khutor” organized crime group. The group's name surfaced amid the high-profile homicide of 16-year-old Sherzat Polat.
Kasymbayev has denied any ties to organized crime.
