Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed officials to speed up the construction of a modern geological laboratory in Astana, Orda.kz reports.
According to Bektenov, the country’s current geological maps are outdated and no longer reflect the real situation or allow for the accurate identification of mineral deposits.
Experts note that existing geological maps are significantly outdated. They no longer allow for a detailed determination of deposit potential or their precise location. Therefore, it is necessary to continue working to increase their scale. A foundation must also be created for the implementation of modern scientific methods in geological exploration,
he said.
The new laboratory will become part of the national geological cluster. Its staff will conduct research in mineralogy, geochemistry, and analytical sciences.
The prime minister instructed the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Geological Service to begin construction as early as 2026.
