President Congratulated Kazakhstanis on Independence Day, Commemorative Events in Almaty

On December 16, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev addressed the people of Kazakhstan with congratulations in honor of Independence Day, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
This holiday is a symbol of the revival of our statehood and the embodiment of our people's dream of freedom. On this day, we all deeply understand how important it is to be faithful to the precepts of our ancestors and take responsibility for the future of the nation. Independence is our common priceless asset, which underlies all our achievements. Independence is above all. It is the duty of every citizen to protect it like the apple of one's eye,the President said.
The President says Kazakhstan is confidently moving forward, step by step, strengthening its authority in the international arena.
All this is thanks to the hard work and solidarity of the people.
I am convinced that by maintaining our unity, peace and stability in society, we will overcome all challenges and reach new heights on the path of progress. I wish everyone good health and well-being! May our sacred Motherland prosper! said Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
Meanwhile, in Almaty, commemorative events are underway.
After laying flowers near the Independence Monument, the participants of the December events remained. They are known as Jeltoksanshylar (Decemberists in Kazakh - Ed.)


Some of them have portraits of Qasym-Jomart Toqayev with his quote:
In 1986, our sons and daughters, not fearing the wrath of the Soviet Union, came out to the square for the honor of the nation. We should appreciate and systematically promote the civic heroism of the first swallows of freedom - the heroes of December.
Other Jeltoksanshylar came to the square with homemade posters in memory of the events of December 1986.
There are also representatives of the group of Soviet troops in stationed Germany on the square.
