A pre-trial investigation has been launched against the former chair of the Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Crimes, Kairat Kozhamzharov, reports Orda.kz.
According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the ex-official is suspected of abuse of office and laundering criminal proceeds during various periods of his work in senior government positions.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that investigative and operational groups under the supervision of special prosecutors have been set up to handle all related cases.
