An antitrust investigation has been launched in the East Kazakhstan region against Oskemen Airport JSC, Orda.kz reports.
The probe follows an unscheduled analysis of competition in the retail aviation fuel market covering the period from 2022 to January 2025.
Based on the results of the inspection, signs of antitrust violations were identified in the company’s actions — specifically, subparagraph 1 of Article 174 of the Entrepreneurial Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which concerns the setting and maintenance of monopolistically high or low prices, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition stated.
The investigation is ongoing. The agency emphasized that it is too early to discuss potential sanctions until the investigation is complete.
