The Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced a new series of arrests linked to fuel theft and illegal transportation of petroleum products, Orda.kz reports.
In the Aktobe region, officers identified a group accused of moving fuel using falsified documentation.
The truck drivers were detained. On the orders of the organizers, they illegally transported approximately 60 tons of petroleum products. During searches of the suspects’ homes and the office of one of the companies, about 400 tons of fuel, as well as weapons and documents confirming the illegal activity, were seized,
the ministry stated.
Authorities are also investigating a company suspected of smuggling fuel abroad.
Preliminary findings indicate it exported more than 30,000 tons valued at around eight billion tenge. In October, four of its railcars carrying 300 tons of fuel were intercepted at a border station while en route to a neighboring country.
