Police Seize 12 Tons of Fuel at Border Amid Illegal Export Attempts

Police intercepted about 12 tons of fuel at Kazakhstan’s border over the past month, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Officers also found 54 cars with illegally enlarged fuel tanks. Their owners were brought to administrative responsibility.
There are now 59 patrol police posts operating at 48 road checkpoints. Police are paying particular attention to Zhambyl, Turkestan and Mangistau regions, where fuel-smuggling attempts are recorded most often.
Police are also checking service stations that install additional fuel tanks. In the village of Kordai in Zhambyl region, officers inspected 16 service stations together with tax authorities. Six owners were held liable.
