Police have opened an investigation into why residential buildings built under the state housing program Nurly Jer in the village of Talgyran near Atyrau are deteriorating, Orda.kz reports.
The settlement consists of 60 buildings completed in 2018. Buyers financed them through mortgages, but within several years, residents began reporting structural problems: walls and foundations cracking, plaster falling away, and homes gradually collapsing.
Authorities launched an inquiry only after repeated complaints.
The case was opened under the article on violation of construction regulations,
the Atyrau regional police press service stated.
Two years ago, the contractor attempted repairs, but residents say the work failed to resolve the damage.
Officials now say action will be taken against the construction company.
