Among those reportedly removed from Almaty are individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair users. The incident is under internal investigation, Orda.kz reports.
A video circulating on social media, filmed near Qonayev, shows homeless individuals claiming they were forcibly transported out of the city by police without prior notice or involvement of social services.
They brought us here from the Almaly district. They just dropped us off on the road,
says a man in the video, shared via the Telegram channel “Letters to the President.”
According to initial reports, at least 12 people were taken out of the city. The Almaty Police Department has since confirmed that an internal investigation is underway.
All actions of employees, including measures to identify persons without a fixed abode, are carried out ‘on an ongoing basis in cooperation with social and medical services’ and ‘within the framework of current legislation,’
the department stated.
