Law enforcement in Kazakhstan's Turkestan region has apprehended a group of religious radicals in a joint operation between police and the National Security Committee (KNB).
The individuals are accused of promoting religious discord and distributing extremist content.
According to authorities, the suspects are Maktaaral district residents who formed an association based on radical religious ideology. Investigators claim they shared materials on social media platforms that denigrated followers of other faiths while also distributing court-banned extremist videos and audio recordings.
Search operations yielded over 20 books and pamphlets containing extremist material, along with illegal narcotics, weapons, and ammunition in the suspects' possession.
Officials have already placed the alleged group leaders in custody following court authorization. The Interior Ministry confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
