A Ukrainian national, Volodymyr Zhuravlev, has been detained in Poland per a German arrest warrant issued in connection with the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, Orda.kz reports, citing RFM24.

Zhuravlev was arrested in Pruszków and has since been transferred to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw. Extradition proceedings are expected to begin shortly.

According to earlier joint reporting by German media, Zhuravlev is a Ukrainian diving instructor. His name became known after he was identified as the first suspect in the Nord Stream case, with Germany issuing a warrant for his arrest back in 2024.

At the time, he was living in Poland, but the Polish authorities refused to extradite him. Investigators noted that he subsequently left the EU.

In mid-September, reports surfaced that an Italian court ordered the extradition of a Ukrainian man, identified only as Serhii K., to Germany over his alleged role in the Nord Stream pipeline explosions in 2022.

At the time of reporting, it was expected he would appeal the decision.
