Poland: Conservative Karol Nawrocki Won Second Round by Narrow Margin

Poland’s presidential election was held on June 1. Early exit polls suggested a lead for liberal candidate Rafal Trzaskowski. However, the official results showed that his opponent, conservative politician Karol Nawrocki, secured a narrow victory, Orda.kz reports.
According to the final figures released by the State Electoral Commission of Poland, Nawrocki received 50.89% of the vote, while Trzaskowski garnered 49.11%.
Karol Nawrocki is a politician known for his conservative stance. He supports measures against illegal immigration and is described as a Eurosceptic. He has expressed opposition to closer ties between Poland and both Brussels and Kyiv. Nawrocki has publicly opposed Ukraine’s NATO membership and its fast-tracked accession to the European Union.
Reportedly, Nawrocki may pursue closer relations with Hungary’s Viktor Orban and Slovakia’s Robert Fico.
