Four masked men attacked a coast guard patrol in Atyrau during an anti-poaching operation on September 28, Orda.kz reports.
Border guards were inspecting nets found in the reeds when a high-speed boat approached. The attackers ignored orders to stop, rammed the patrol vessel, and threw one of the guards into the water.
The poachers fled the scene and are now being sought by border guards and police. Authorities say water patrols have been reinforced and are urging residents to remain calm.
