Slovenian President Nataša Pirc-Musar is on an official visit to Astana — and as we've reported, she also brought along her signature “bee diplomacy” initiative.
Today’s Kazakh-Slovenian business forum was central to the visit’s agenda. One key point discussed was Kazakhstan’s ambition to become Eurasia’s leading trade and logistics hub.
Speakers highlighted that the country already accounts for 90% of overland trade between Europe and China.

Particular attention was paid to pharmaceuticals and IT in terms of bilateral cooperation. Kazakhstan expressed interest in collaborating with Slovenian pharmaceutical giants like Krka and Lek to boost domestic pharmaceutical production. Opportunities in joint scientific research, tech startups, and educational exchanges were also a topic.
Slovenian companies were invited to explore the potential of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and integrate into its growing ecosystem.
