Petition to Rename Nazarbayev Avenue in Qaraganda Rejected
Officials rejected a petition on the ePetition portal to restore the former name of Nazarbayev Avenue in Qaraganda, Orda reports.
The February petition sought to return the avenue to its historical name, Bulvar Mira (Peace Boulevard), which it held for decades.
Petitioners cited the street's historical significance and tourism considerations.
City authorities dismissed the request, citing Kazakhstan's Administrative-Territorial Structure law.
They explained that under Article 90-2 of the Administrative Procedure Code, petitions cannot address matters of administrative-territorial arrangement.
